CEEC Laos PV+ESS Project Lights Up Green Future

Operational Impact‌

  1. Improved Energy Supply:With an installed capacity of 50.1 MW in Phase I, the project has met a significant portion of the local power demand, effectively alleviating the power shortage in Laos. It provides a stable energy guarantee for industrial development and people’s daily lives.
  1. Remarkable Environmental Benefits:As a clean energy source, photovoltaic power generation can significantly reduce carbon emissions every year. This helps Laos make active contributions to combating climate change and promotes the realization of sustainable development goals.
  1. Economic Stimulus:The successful implementation of the project not only lays a solid foundation for CEEC’s business expansion in Laos but also creates numerous job opportunities and drives the coordinated development of upstream and downstream industries.
The grid connection of CEEC’s first photovoltaic and energy storage project in Laos serves as a successful model of energy cooperation between China and Laos. In the future, CEEC will continue to uphold the spirit of Belt and Road cooperation, contributing more to the energy transformation and sustainable development of Laos and other countries around the world.

Project Context

China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC) achieved a milestone in renewable energy cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative with the successful grid connection of Laos’ first photovoltaic + energy storage system (ESS) project – the 50MW Ganmung Sebangphei Solar Farm (Phase I). This landmark project marks a significant step forward in Laos’ transition to clean energy.

As Southeast Asia’s fastest – growing economy, Laos faces dual challenges of:

Engineering Solution

     CEEC’s technical approach combines:

    1.Smart Grid Integration

♦ 50.1MW solar array with tracking systems

♦10/20MWh lithium – ion Energy Storage System (ESS)

♦ AI – based energy management platform achieving:

✓ Enhance the grid’s acceptance capacity (with a utilization rate of 98.7%)

✓ Flatten the fluctuation of photovoltaic output (reduce the fluctuation amplitude by 65%)

✓ Precise tracking of load curves (response time < 15 seconds)

     2.Sustainable Implementation

♦ 63% local workforce participation Vocational training programs for 200 technicians

♦ 42% local procurement of construction materials
