The Kamoa Copper Mine, located in southern DR Congo, is Africa’s largest copper mining and smelting base, with an annual production target of 1 million tons upon full operation. However, the remote location and weak grid infrastructure led to heavy reliance on costly diesel generators, coupled with significant carbon emission challenges. To address this, China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) secured the EPC contract for the Kamoa Smart Integrated Energy Microgrid Project, leveraging its world-leading integrated energy technologies. This milestone highlights CEEC’s pivotal role in advancing Africa’s energy transition and pioneering innovative power supply models for mining operations.
