The successful grid connection of CEEC’s Energy Storage System in Sarawak underscores China’s technological leadership in energy storage and its commitment to global decarbonization. CEEC will continue to advance international collaborations, powering a sustainable future with cutting-edge innovations.
1.Enhanced Grid Reliability
The system supports two full charge-discharge cycles daily with 100ms frequency regulation, equivalent to adding a mid-sized hydropower plant’s flexibility to the Sarawak grid.
2. Accelerating Renewable Energy Adoption
Intelligent dispatching enables annual reductions of 12,000 tons of standard coal consumption and 30,000 tons of CO2 emissions, supporting Malaysia’s 2030 renewable energy target (31% of total capacity).
3. A Model for Technology and Economics
The project demonstrates the viability of large-scale electrochemical storage in tropical climates, offering a replicable model for “renewables + storage” across Southeast Asia.
